Chiang Mai residents warned of flash floods

Residents of Chiang Mai were warned to brace themselves for heavy rains and possible flash flooding from Friday to Sunday.
The warning was issued by Phairin Limcharoen, chief of the Chiang Mai Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Office.
He said a southwest monsoon would pass over Chiang Mai during the period and it would trigger downpours that may cause flash floods and landslides.
He said people living along rivers and canals and near mountains should be on alert.
