Phang Nga vendor caught hawking sea-fan bracelets

A man was arrested at a Phang Nga agricultural fair on Friday for selling bracelets made from gorgonians, a protected marine species also known as sea fans and sea whips.
Fisheries Department officials arrested Wicha Phaleeta, 56, at his stall at the annual fair being held in Srinakharin Park in Phang Nga’s Mueang district.
He was charged with possessing a protected marine creature for sale.
Wicha claimed he’d bought the 11 bracelets from another man to resell.
