
The funeral guard was meanth to prevent a further dispute between two groups of the family that could escalate to violence, Chai Buri superintendent Pol Colonel Pakhapol Thawichsri said on Sunday.
Pakhapol said investigators were probing the shooting and collecting evidence, but they had not filed any charges yet.
The noontime shooting took place at the family’s house in Chai Buri district’s Tambon Khlong Noi in front of many witnesses.
The deceased were Somyos Nambutr, 51, Atachariya Nambutr, 30, and Sant Nambutr, 25, while another family member, Saksit Nambutr, 28, was seriously wounded. Saksit was being treated at Surat Thani Hospital where police had also detained him because test results for gunpowder residue as well as several witnesses reportedly pointed at him as the shooter.
