Three women killed, including peace activists, in car crash in Pattani

Three women were killed and five others injured when a car collided with a taxi on a Pattani road yesterday morning.

Pol Captain Adisak Satuapa, deputy inspector of the Yarang police station, said the accident had happened on the Pattani-Yala Road in Yarang district’s Moo 4 village.
Adisak said the front passenger of the taxi, Nanthiya Ouirantanpong 36, had been killed, while the taxi driver, Waeduarae Waehayi, 62, and two passengers in the backseat were injured.
Two women, Massayam Tohbadu, 28, and Ismarupaidah Doloh, 25, were also killed in the Honda Accord that collided with the taxi.
Two other women in the Honda were injured. They were identified as Nassarin Saha, 28, the driver, and Fahdimoh Poh-idaedah, the chairwoman of the Women for Peace Association.
Adisak said Fahdimoh’s group had been travelling from Yala to join an activity to promote peace in Yarang district when the accident occurred.
He said the accident occurred at a curve in the road and it had been raining hard, adding that the Accord slipped and crashed into the taxi in the opposite lane.
