Si Sa Ket reservoirs overflow, flooding villages

Reservoirs in Si Sa Ket are full and overflowing their spillways as a result of heavy rain from Storm Pakhar, causing flooding across the area.

Many villages in Si Sa Ket’s Phu Sing district, especially the area near Phanom Dongrak mountain range on the border with Cambodia, suffered heavily flash-flooding on Monday night and Tuesday morning, as water from heavy downpours flowed down from the mountain and filled the reservoirs beyond capacity.
It has been reported that all the reservoirs in the area are full and overflowing. There are also reports that about 30 households in Tambon Lalu have been hit by flooding that has obstructed residents’ daily lives.
Si Sa Ket Provincial Meteorological Station head Narong Homsuwan warned people in the province to brace for more heavy rain from the monsoon trench, which will intensify the flood situation over the next few days.
