Phuket father and son set off on a special journey for HM the late King

A local disabled person is heading north to Bangkok to attend HM the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej’s Cremation – by road in his wheelchair.

The representative of Phuket disabled people is 49-year-old Sompong Juiplub and his 15 years old ‘abled’ son, Thanawut Juiplub, who will be assisting during the journey.
The pair left Phuket on route to Bangkok on Friday. They estimate their travelling time will be about 20 days. The Royal Cremation will take place on October 26 at Sanam Luang.
The two said they wanted to show respects and gratitude to the late King through this long and arduous journey.
The Department of Social Development and Welfare Phuket Office is coordinating with the other offices along the way to help accommodate the father and his son along the way.
We wish them both well and will be following their journey.
