Six family members narrowly escape house fire in Hat Yai

Six family members narrowly escaped a fire that engulfed their house in the heart of Hat Yai town in Songkhla early on Monday.

Six fire engines were dispatched to the two-storey house on Niphat Uthit 1 Road at 3am. The fire swept through the house and also damaged two adjacent rented rooms before being extinguished in about an hour.
Homeowner Charoen Suwansa-ard, 67, injured his arm when he fell while rushing from the house. His wife went into shock and passed out.
Charoen said his wife’s shouting about the fire woke family members who ran for their lives.
The forensic police had not yet inspected the house to determine the cause of the fire.
