Metropolitan Police commissioner Pol Lt-General Charnthep Sesawej told a press conference on Friday that Anirut Kaewchin, 30, and Tanuphat Inbuathong, 32, were arrested at 6.50pm on Thursday.
Charnthep said police had learned about the middlemen from drugs users and arrested drug pushers that the two had been selling drug to at a condominium in the Sukhumvit area. Undercover police were dispatched to stake out the condo perimeter.
When police saw the two coming out of the condo, they stopped them and found five meth pills and 205 grams of “ice” during a body search.
Police took them back to their room, where they found more drugs. Police also seized a Thompson submachine gun and ammunition from the room.
Charnthep said the two were alleged middlemen between a major trafficking ring and retailers in Bangkok and Samut Prakan.
Charnthep added that Tanuphat was previously arrested on drugs charges in Samut Prakan and jumped bail.
