Guilty poaching case offenders will be punished, says Prayut

Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha vowed on Tuesday that those found guilty in the much-publiciseded suspected poaching case at Kanchaburi wildlife sanctuary will be punished.

Prayut said that the investigation and trial proceeding will be held according to the law.
“Anyone will be punished if they violated the laws. I have no power to intervene or do anything. I called for all authorities concerned to work with fairness and in line with the laws and justice.”
The premier was referring to the arrest of Premchai Karnasuta, who is president of Italian-Thai Development company, a huge listed construction company, in Thung Yai Naresuan Wildlife Sanctuary in Kanchanaburi province early on Monday morning.
Carcasses of protected animals and rifles with ammunition were found at Premchai’s campsite.
Premchai and three other suspects have reportedly been charged with illegal poaching, hunting and possessing protected animals.
