A python hails a ride

A Yala doctor unwittingly gave a free ride to a python from a local temple to the hospital where she works on Wednesday night, only discovering the unwelcome passenger when relatives visiting patients at the facility alerted her to the snake’s presence in the back of her car.

Doctor Sunee Tangsingmunkong, an otolaryngologist of the Yala Hospital, was parking her car in front of the main hospital building at 9pm when she discovered the python and immediately sought help from a team of rescuers from a local foundation who had just delivered a patient to the hospital.
The rescue team took about 30 minutes to capture the three-metre-long python to the cheers of onlookers.
Sunee said she went to make merit at Wat Phra Phum in Yala's Muang district and left her car there during the day, stopping off to pick it up in the evening as she left for work.
The python was later released into the wild.
