A temporary information-monitoring centre was opened on Friday in response to multiple instances of flooding across the country and amid concerns that reservoirs are overloaded.

Somkiat Prajamwong, secretary-general of the Office of National Water Resources, chaired a meeting of related agencies at the Royal Irrigation Department’s Smart Water Operations Centre in Bangkok’s Sam Sen area.
The information-monitoring centre will collate daily updates on the water situation for Deputy Prime Minister General Chatchai Sarikulya and periodically update Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha so they can adapt policy in response.
