Bamrungrat Ploydam, chief of the Banthad Mountains Wildlife Sanctuary led police to arrest Ekkarat Wongsawat, 61, at his Asia Travel company in Phatthalung on Wednesday after a tip-off.
They found 28 Asian civets, four Blue magpies and several small-clawed otters in cages at his home office.
Ekkarat told police that he bought and smuggled the wild animals from southern border provinces and resold them via the Line app.
The rescued animals were sent to the Phatthalung wildlife nursery before being released.
Ekkarat was charged with having protected wild animals in his possession and trading in wild animals.
