Motive unclear in murder of Yala election candidate
Forensics specialists on Monday morning inspected the Yala property where prospective Palang Chart Thai party MP candidate Warin Saengchan was shot dead on Sunday night along with his wife.
Police summoned at 9pm to the victims’ home in Ban Kabang (Moo 7), Kabang district, found Warin and his wife Rokiyoh Sapae-ing dead from single gunshot wounds to the head. His hands were tied behind his back.
Police were mulling possible motives, including the southern insurrection and personal and political conflicts. Warin was poised to run in the upcoming general election.
They believe at least two gunmen entered the couple’s home and later fled into the rubber plantation behind it.
