Probe ordered after man shoots himself in Prachuap Khiri Khan police station

A probe was ordered on Thursday into the suicide death of a tour firm owner at a police station in Muang district.

Prachuap Khiri Khan police chief Pol Maj Gen Surasak Suksawaeng ordered Klong Wan station police chief to conduct an investigation into the death of Chatchawal Yuprasert, 40, a resident of Samut Prakan's Bang Plee district.
Chatchawal shot himself dead after he grabbed Pol Capt Seree Thongdee's pistol inside the station on Tuesday.
The incident began when police were told that Seree and his wife needed help as their car broke down while they visiting Prachuap Khiri Khan.
The station sent a truck to tow the car to a garage while the couple was driven in a police car to a bus terminal.
However, police say Chatchawal began to hallucinate in the police car, shouting that many armed people were about to harm him. In an attempt to calm him down, police took the couple to the Klong Wan police station.
Later, Chatchawal said he wanted to use the toilet but when he walked past Seree, the deputy inspector of the station, he snatched the officer's pistol and shot himself in the right temple.
Seree police officer was briefing patrol policemen before sending them out on patrol.
The wife and Chatchawal's wife and family have not questioned the suicide that was caught on security camera. The probe will be part of the formal police report.
