Drought-hit Phichit battles wildfire

Drought-hit Phichit battles wildfire

Residents in the Muang district of Phichit province are facing severe smog caused by wildfires that have raged for three days.

The fire, fuelled by several dry weeds as a result of the severe drought in the province, has spread quickly over a 40-rai area. The smog has affected, in particular, a school for special kids and nearby villages.
Officers have been battling the fire for three days, but they were obstructed by bushes while the wind has constantly escalated the fire.
The villagers are monitoring the situation carefully, as they fear the fire might spread. The village headman has told locals to wear face masks to prevent the harmful effects of the smog.
