Elite visa no help when it comes to returning home to Thailand
In a message posted on the Nation Thailand page on Monday (May 4), Facebook user Xavier d’Anjou said he was stuck in France and could not return to his family and loved ones in Thailand.
“My Thailand Elite visa and permanent residency doesn’t change anything. I can’t go back,” he said, adding that he hoped Thai authorities will consider allowing all foreign expats with a long-term visa – business, marriage, retirement, elite – to return to Thailand and resume their lives by the end of May.
“The entry ban imposed by Thai authorities on most foreigners, including those who permanently and legally reside in Thailand, is causing suffering,” he said. “These foreigners were denied the right to go back home to their wife or husband and kids.
“Health screening or Covid-19 test before or after arrival, followed by 14-day quarantine [monitored self-isolation at home or in a hotel at the traveller’s expense] would be an acceptable solution and would prevent any risk,” he added.
