Amendment of copyright law to be tabled soon
A new amendment of the copyright law is expected to be tabled before the Cabinet soon, Intellectual Property Department’s deputy director general Jittima Srithaporn said, adding that the Council of State has completed examination of the draft.
As part of the amendment, copyright owners can notify internet service providers to immediately remove contents from websites that violate their rights.
Under the existing law, owners need a court order first before they can ban the distribution of their content by violators.
The new law will now allow action to be taken against manufacturers and distributors of devices used to hack content on websites.
