A teacher and his student were crushed by a concrete mixer truck in Bangkok on Tuesday (August 25) when their motorcycle slid under its wheels.

Officers from Thung Khru police station, medics from Siriraj Hospital and a team of rescue volunteers were called to the scene, where they found the driver of the 18-wheel concrete mixer, 33-year-old Paiwan Niemnut, parked beside the road.

Next to the mixer were the bodies of a 17-year-old female student in uniform and a teacher from the same school, lying on the ground with fractured skulls despite wearing helmets.

The student’s sister said her family was shocked about the accident, adding that the teacher took her to school every day without any sign something might go wrong.

Police said the teacher likely lost control of the motorcycle and skidded under the belly of the concrete mixer. They are checking footage from surveillance cameras and questioning the driver.
