Typhoon 'Vamco' making landfall in Vietnam today; rain in North, Northeast pose threat to crops

The Category 5 typhoon “Vamco” over the upper coast of Vietnam was centred about 180 kilometres southeast of Dong Hoi, Vietnam at 4am on Sunday, the Thailand Meteorological Department said.

The northeast monsoon prevailing over the Gulf and the South is weakening. Less rain is likely in the South with isolated heavy rain, the department said.
