Heavy rain forecast for lower South while temperature creeps up in Bangkok

The strong high-pressure system covering upper Thailand is weakening, the Thailand Meteorological Department said on Monday.

Temperature is expected to go up by 1-3 degrees Celsius, while the weather remains cool to cold with strong winds. People should take care of their health during the variable weather, the department said.

A rather strong northeast monsoon still prevails over the Gulf with a low cell over the lower South China Sea. Isolated heavy rain is forecast for the lower South. Strong winds could force waves up about two metres high in the upper Gulf of Thailand, 2-3 metres in the lower portion and more than three metres high in thundershowers. All ships should proceed with caution, and small boats should keep ashore, the department said.
