Klong Prem chief transferred for failing to stop burning of King’s portrait
The chief of Klong Prem Central Prison has been transferred to the Corrections Department for failing to stop the burning of His Majesty’s portrait outside the prison.
Singer Chai-amorn Kaewwiboonpan, aka Ammy The Bottom Blues, allegedly set fire to the portrait outside the prison on Sunday (February 28) as a protest against the arrest of four pro-democracy leaders.
The singer is under detention and faces charges of arson and lese majeste, as police look for others who may have joined him. The singer’s protest was captured on CCTV.
Meanwhile, Klong Prem Central Prison chief Wichai Chotepatiwechakul will be demoted to the post of inspector general and replaced by the deputy director-general of the Corrections Department Tawatchai Chaiwat.
