Singer Chai-amorn Kaewwiboonpan, aka Ammy The Bottom Blues, allegedly set fire to the portrait outside the prison on Sunday (February 28) as a protest against the arrest of four pro-democracy leaders.
The singer is under detention and faces charges of arson and lese majeste, as police look for others who may have joined him. The singer’s protest was captured on CCTV.
Meanwhile, Klong Prem Central Prison chief Wichai Chotepatiwechakul will be demoted to the post of inspector general and replaced by the deputy director-general of the Corrections Department Tawatchai Chaiwat.
