Thundershowers forecast for most parts of Thailand, isolated heavy rains in some areas

A weak high-pressure system from China covers the North, the Northeast and Central regions of Thailand while the southerly and southeasterly winds prevail across upper Thailand.

Thundershowers and gusty winds are likely in upper Thailand with isolated heavy rains in the North and the East regions, the Thailand Meteorological Department said on Saturday.

People should beware of the severe conditions, the department said.

Meanwhile, the easterly and the southeasterly winds prevail across the Andaman Sea, the South and the Gulf of Thailand, leading to scattered thundershowers in the areas.

The weather forecast for the next 24 hours:

North: Thundershowers in 60 per cent of the areas; heavy rains and gusty winds are possible in some areas; temperature lows of 21-25 degrees Celsius, highs of 30-35°C.

Northeast: Thundershowers in 40 per cent of the areas; temperature lows of 22-23°C, highs of 31-34°C.

Central: Thundershowers in 40 per cent of the areas; temperature lows of 22-25°C, highs of 32-34°C.

East: Thundershowers in 60 per cent of the areas; heavy rains are possible in some areas; temperature lows of 23-25°C, highs of 33-35°C; waves less than a metre high and over a metre during thundershowers.

South (east coast): Thundershowers in 60 per cent of the areas; temperature lows of 23-25°C, highs of 32-35°C; waves a metre high and 1-2 metres during thundershowers.

South (west coast): Thundershowers in 60 per cent of the areas; temperature lows of 22-26°C, highs of 33-34°C; waves a metre high and 1-2 metres during thundershowers.

Bangkok and surrounding areas: Thundershowers in 60 per cent of the areas; heavy rains are possible in some areas; temperature lows of 24-26°C, highs of 32-33°C.
