Thundershowers forecast for all regions, isolated heavy rains in the East and South


The strong southwest monsoon prevailing over the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand would bring thundershowers with isolated heavy rains to the South and the East, the Thailand Meteorological Department said on Saturday.

People in these areas should beware of the severe conditions, the department said.

Waves in the Andaman Sea are expected to rise above two metres in thundershower areas hence all ships should proceed with caution, the department said.

The weather forecast for the next 24 hours:

North: A hot day with thundershowers in 10 per cent of the region; gusty winds are possible in some areas; temperature lows of 25-28 degrees Celsius, highs of 36-38°C.

Northeast: Mostly cloudy with thundershowers in 30 per cent of the region; gusty winds are possible in some areas; temperature lows of 24-27°C, highs of 35-38°C.

Central: Mostly cloudy with thundershowers in 20 per cent of the region; gusty winds are possible in some areas; temperature lows of 25-27°C, highs of 37-38°C.

East: Mostly cloudy with thundershowers in 40 per cent of the areas with isolated heavy rains; temperature lows of 24-27°C, highs of 33-37°C; waves 1-2 metres high and two metres during thundershowers.

South (east coast): Mostly cloudy with thundershowers in 60 per cent of the areas and isolated heavy rains; temperature lows of 24-26°C, highs of 32-35°C; waves a metre high and two metres during thundershowers.

South (west coast): Cloudy with thundershowers in 70 per cent of the areas and isolated heavy rains; temperature lows of 23-26°C, highs of 29-31°C; waves two metres high and over two metres during thundershowers.

Bangkok and surrounding areas: Mostly cloudy with thundershowers in 20 per cent of the areas; temperature lows of 26-27°C, highs of 34-38°C.
