Anutin vows better communication with Bangkok City Hall after vaccine spat

Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul on Monday promised to improve communication between his Department of Disease Control (DDC) and the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) after many hospitals postponed Covid-19 vaccination this week.

Anutin had earlier sought to blame the BMA for the suspension of vaccination services.

Several public and private hospitals said the suspension was due to a lack of doses from the Public Health Ministry, sparking public complaints about the government's vaccine allocation.

Anutin said that the DDC and BMA must communicate in-depth to resolve this issue.

The DDC would now give other agencies weekly figures for the number of doses delivered and their estimated time of arrival, he said.

He also apologised to people for the problems with vaccine allocation.

He added that he would discuss with the DDC director-general about how to deliver vaccination to Bangkokians who had registered via the Mor Phrom (Doctors Ready) application.

"Initially, we may allow them to receive jabs at a vaccination station in Bang Sue Grand Station," he said.
