Kalaan brothers sizzle in Audemars Piguet win

Defending champions and hot-favourites Audemars Piguet were pitted against Mercedes Benz in an all-action match that could have gone either way just minutes into the second half, but Audemars fared a bit better in their last-ditch attempt to seal a 7-6 wi

A robust first half from the Audemars Piguet team, captained by Peter Prentice along with the dynamic Kalaan brothers, Uday and Angaad, quickly reduced the handicap and ended up with a first half result of 6-6. Uday Kalaan, the former captain of India's horse polo world cup team, scored a superb hat trick of three consecutive goals.

The second half saw Kristjan Edwards, captain of the Mercedes Benz team, regroup his team and get within striking distance of Audemars Piguet with a swift shot within metres of the goal posts but Peter Prentice warded off any chance of the Mercedes Benz team going ahead of the game.

With only one minute left of the match, Uday quickly got back his first half form with long strikes from the mid-field to brother Angaad whose precision strike ended with a goal ensuring Audemars Piguet's dominance over the resilient defence of Mercedes Benz's Rickard Hogberg.

In other matches, Anantara tied with PTT 2-2; British Airways IBM outclassed Amex 5-3; PrincewaterhouseCoopers narrowly beat Sara Story Design 3-2; Kasikorn thrashed Blue Label 8-5 and King Power tamed SOCO International 9-6.

The tournament continues through Sunday, with a total of 12 teams vying for the top honours and the prestigious King's Cup at stake.
