We have a problem next Thursday, but it’s the nice sort of problem: The world clubbing scene’s two superstars are both performing in Bangkok at the same time at two different venues.
One is Berlin’s Boys Noize, gracing the deck at LED on RCA. The other is the celebrated British drum-and-bass specialist Die, who’ll be laying it down at Bed Supperclub.
Quite a choice! Get a fast car ready.
Boys Noize discovered his passion for music early on and soon after breaking into the scene was supporting the likes of Felix Da Housecat and DJ Hell.
His refreshing and non-compromising approach has taken Boys Noize into daring new territory, drawing influence from hip-hop and disco to create fun and uplifting sets.
He’s remixed David Lynch, NERD, Depeche Mode, Snoop Dogg and the Chemical Brothers and produced Kelis, UK rapper Kano and the Black Eyed Peas. You might have heard Chilly Gonzales’ “Ivory Tower”, the first album that Noize produced and co-wrote on his own.
Winner of last year’s Independent Music Award and Beatport’s Best Electronic Artist for three years in a row, Noize is coming to Bangkok for a Retox Session, supported by local talents Superzaaap and Cmyk.
Meanwhile on the other side of town at Bed, DJ Die unleashes the full power of his drum-and-bass label Full Cycle Recordings.
He was formerly with Breakbeat Era and Reprazent, winners of the Mercury Prize in 1997. Early interest in house and hardcore led him to a partnership with Jody Wisternoff (later to form Way Out West with Nick Warren).
Then came a collaboration with Roni Size of Bristol’s Replay Records in 1992 – Agility for V Recordings – followed by Die’s ongoing contributions to the Full Cycle catalogue.
Together with Size, he originated the seminal Music Box, which became the title track of the debut Full Cycle compilation in 1996. Solo efforts like “Landslide” and “Jittabug” carved out a niche for Die, who became known for his ability to fuse jazz with breaks and create devastating floor-shakers.
WHAT A DILEMMA!
