The looming shortage of water

While I totally agree with Jason Baker's letter on March 31 about the environmental damage caused by the meat industry, I would like to specifically bring attention to the problem of the shortage of water.
There have been recent news reports noting that we may soon be fighting wars as a result of a water shortage. Now would be a good time to remind everyone that in America 50 per cent of the water that is used goes to raising animals for food. While the meat industry says, “Eating meat is a matter of choice”, I ask the readers what choice is the animal food industry giving to millions of future children who may die because of the water shortage?
Like it or not, there are consequences for the choices we make.
