No similiarity except in gender

Re: "Thaksin welcomed like the Dalai Lama," Letters, May 2.

Somsak Pola demonstrates a talent for coining bad analogies when he writes, “Thaksin reminds me of the current Dalai Lama, who is graciously welcomed everywhere on the planet except in his home country.”
The Dalai Lama’s home country is Tibet, Khun Somsak. Tibet would undoubtedly give the Dalai Lama the most ecstatic welcome possible if it were not being crushed beneath the jackboot of an oppressive foreign power.
The only thing Thaksin has in common with the Dalai Lama is the fact that they are both Asian males. To imagine otherwise is to engage in delusional thinking.
