Siratcha “Min” patcharasopachai, who owns a shop called Brandname Society, deals with many big stars because they dump handbags and other accessories they’re tired of (used once) with her to sell so they can buy new stuff.
Min can sell the items easier if the celebrities let her use a photo of them with the item, thus guaranteeing its famous provenance. And a lot of the stars readily comply. Min says Cherman “Ploy” Boonyasak is “very kind”.
It’s not like Ploy accidentally left anything of interest in the bag, of course, but she and others are generous about the resale price. “Many of the bags are hardly used but they don’t want to make a big profit. Ploy always wants to keep things affordable.”
Model-actress Cholada “Kay” Mekratree doesn’t even check back to see if her stuff gets sold, says Min. “Any time we sell one of her bags, we just have to transfer the money to her animal-rescue charity, the Voice.”
Hungry no more
Songkran and Taksaorn “Aff” Techanarong are always asked whether Aff is cooking for her husband yet. The joke is that Songkran is the family’s only good cook. No doubt tiring of the gag, Aff has been learning, they tell Praew magazine, and Songkran says she’s definitely improving in the kitchen.
“The first meal I made for him was a bowl of breakfast cereal,” Aff says, “and he complained it was too sweet!” So Songkran appreciates the progress she’s making, even it means she has to sneak out of the house to learn how to roll sushi.
None of this is easy given their busy schedules, either. “I hardly get a chance to taste her food because there’s never a day when she’s free!” says Songkran.
