We were getting worried again because the last such report we heard was actress Siriyakorn “Oum” Pukkavesa landing a great guy she met in a meditation class. Now Channel 3 hostess Meesuk “Kai” Changmeesuk has announced her imminent marriage to photographer Pongsakorn “Kim” Kuldilongchaipat – and they met at a temple.
Kai, 40, says the wedding is set for February 15, ideal for a Valentine’s Day hangover. They met last November and it was love at first sight. “We were at a temple and he volunteered as a chauffeur for Phra Ajarn.
“He called out to be by name, so I asked him if we’d met when we were young. I was surprised when he said no –so why had he called my name? And it just came to mind, ‘What if this guy proposes to me – and would I say yes?’”
Kim did indeed propose a month later. Is Kai moving a little too fast? The difference, she says, is that she feels like they’ve known each other a long time. “I think he’s my soulmate.”
The wedding bash at the restaurant Kampoo “will be a small party”, she says, and the honeymoon will be in Laos, where Kim has a business. The lowkey plans have earned praise online, more than one person noting that Oum kept things modest for her inspiring wedding too.

More Thais than usual will be tuning into “Project Runway” on TrueVisions this season because the contestants include one our countrymen, 31yearold Suthiwat “Tu” Nakchat.
A graduate of the Parsons New School for Design and the Paris American Academy (with a BA in “haute couture technique”, no less), Tu will be vying for the crown in Season 11, which begins on Friday at 8pm. He’s the only Thai designer who’s made it to the finals on the show. Who knows, he could be our next Thakoon!
