Too many obstacles to education reform

Here we go again, arguing that Thai education needs vast improvement.

Of course that is true. However, saying that better teachers will improve matters is like saying a better crew on the Titanic would have saved the ship from sinking after it hit the iceberg. In other words, the entire educational establishment is structurally unsound and doomed. The best teachers in the world can’t save Thai education. The only real solution to save Thai students from a poor education is to send them all to be educated in the West, and that is not feasible.
When Thailand's culture of corruption, lack of accountability, lack of transparency, dislike of reading, lack of ability to plan and organise, dislike of change, lack of vision, contempt for merit and, finally, nationalistic pride changes for the better, then let’s talk about educational reform. I figure that will be in about 4,000 years. Until then, please let us not waste time by mentioning and debating the topic of Thailand’s terrible schools.
