Muang Thong and Buriram beaten in ACL

Two Thai Premier League representatives, Muang Thong United and Buriram Unied, had a forgettable trip in China after the two teams returned home empty handed, which left their AFC Champions League hopes hanging by a thread.

On Tuesday, FA Cup winners Buriram crashed to their first defeat after conceding two goals in space of less than a minute in the 2-0 loss against China Super League side Jiangsu Sainty at Olympic Sports Center in Nanjing.
Given the result, Buriram, who exited at the group stage of the continent’s premier club competition last season, slipped to the bottom of Group E with only two points from three matches.
TPL champions Muang Thong yesterday suffered even worse result after going down to a 4-0 thrashing at the hands of a Guangzhou Evergrande side coached by World Cup winning trainer Marcelo Lippi at the packed Tianhe Sport Center.
The result left Muang Thong rooted to the bottom of Group F with only a single point from three games.
