After riding the waves, paddling a canoe and diving to the underwater world all day, there’s nothing better to boost the energy and mood with a delightful spa treatment.
Settled on a hillside above Layan Beach is the grand Trisara Spa of Trisara Luxury Resort Phuket, where vacationers can indulge in a selection of treatments ranging from body wraps, scrubs and facials to massages and holistic consultations.
The spa is based on a concept of friendly service in a luxurious atmosphere to make visitors feel as cosy as if they’re in their own home. The two-storey, 1,500-sqaure-metre pavilion is home to a fitness centre, beauty salon and six spacious treatment suites and surrounded with a shady tropical garden.
Tranquil and private, each treatment room has a steam room, changing room, two separate showers, a relaxation area and a large open deck overlooking the garden and the Andaman Sea.
When it’s time for some pampering, the spa menu offers a variety of treatments that combine eastern and western techniques, using premium organic products extracted from flowers and herbs, suitable for all kinds of skin.
Perfect in all its massage treatments, the spa presents three choices of aromatic essential oils. “Refreshing” is made from ginger that will help relieve tense muscle and pain, “Balancing” has tangerine to refresh the body and mood, and “Calming” is extracted from lemongrass and chamomile to ensure deep sleep.
The signature treatment (Bt12,900) includes a 90-minute Royal Trisara Massage, performed by three trained therapists. It combines techniques of Thai and Swedish massage with acupressure to delight your mind, body and soul, with six hands moving together.
Start with a gentle Thai massage of the feet and shoulders, all hands working with perfect synchronicity. Thai Herbal compresses, long Swedish strokes and acupressure using hands, thumbs and elbows are then delivered in perfect harmony.
The massage finishes with warm organic coconut oil being slowly poured onto your forehead while the therapist gently wipes it back into your hair, nourishing it and massaging the scalp and neck at the same time.
The Sukhothai Massage (Bt3,400 to Bt6,000) is an oil-free traditional Thai massage involving deep long strokes and thumb pressure applied along energy lines to clear blocked energy channels, as well as strategic stretches of the body, resulting in increased flexibility, mobility for the body and clarity for the mind.
To alleviate aches from sitting in front of a computer and carrying a heavy backpack for long time, today I try a 60-minute Trisara Oil Massage with passive stretching for Bt3,400.
It’s a mixture of East and West techniques comprising traditional Thai massage to stretch tense muscles and Swedish oil massage to soothe body tissues and relieves sore muscles.
I choose a “Balancing” essential oil with the refreshing scent of tangerine to pamper my body and emotions. After cleansing my feet with salts, the therapist starts using her thumps and palms to rub pressure points along my spine for about 15 minutes, easing tight muscles from waist to shoulders to neck.
As her hands move to my legs and ankles, she uses her fingers to apply pressure on the feet and toes to stimulate blood circulation and relieve pains from walking.
I roll on one side, then they other as the therapist strokes my shoulders. This is followed by pulling my arms backward, a traditional Thai massage technique, and applying pressure on my hands and fingers to stretch the muscles.
The treatment finishes with a short head massage to improve the blood flow and relieve tension and stress.
“Our massage treatments are a combination of eastern and western techniques. Each treatment is designed to relieve tight muscles, soothe the body and reduce pain with organic spa products,” Saowap Thumapun, spa manager says.
The spa also offers many facial treatments and body wraps using organic spa products by Sodashi, a popular brand from Australia too.
