Boundary' screening allowed under conditions

"Boundary" ("Fahtum Pandinsoong"), the controversial documentary on the ThaiCambodian border dispute and Thailand's red-and-yellow political divide, will have its Thailand VIP premiere this evening at Esplanade Ratchada as planned, but the general releas

Director Nontawat Numbenchapol may have to handle the ticket sales himself, an unusual practice, the source added.
As of press time, the director was negotiating with the theatre after learning tonight’s VIP premiere might not go ahead. The screening is intended for invited media and film lovers.
After some discussion, the theatre operator agreed to allow the premiere but at other screenings, the filmmaker will have to handle ticket sales himself.
“We have to wait and see what will happen next,” the source said.
A nationwide tour is set for “Boundary”, starting on June 27 at Major Cineplex in Chiang Mai. Other cities planned are Khon Kaen and Udon Thani and then back in Bangkok from July 18 onwards.
The hestitation over whether the premiere of “Boundary” would be allowed sparked worries in the film community that another politically sensitive film, “Pachatipathai” (“Paradoxocracy”) by directors Penek Ratanaruang and Pasakorn Pramoolwong, might also be cancelled. But “Pachatiapthai”, which opened today to mark the 81st anniversary of the establishment of the constitutional monarchy, went on as planned at Esplanade Ratchada and Paragon Cineplex. Full houses were reported for the screenings.
Much confusion has surrounded “Boundary” since Nontawat submitted the film to the Film and Video Board. It was initially banned on April 23 but the ban order was rescinded two days later, with the board saying it had made a “technical mistake” and it would allow “Boundary” to be shown with minor changes.
