I have read Burin Kantabutra’s many reminders of what occurred at Krue Se, Tak Bai, etc, over the years and he has a point. However, I might remind him that innocent Buddhist monks, farmers, teachers and soldiers were being slaughtered and having their heads cut off long before any of those incidents. I’m sorry, Khun Burin, but civilised people do not kill innocents and cut their heads off, and I would suggest that, by doing so, they might have relinquished their right to civilised treatment.
The southern people have been treated no worse than many of the people in Isaan, yet you don’t see any heads rolling in Isaan, do you?
The chances for dialogue in the deep South are about as good as they are in every other part of the world suffering from Muslim terrorism. They can be solved by either ceding the territory or cracking down and eliminating the perpetrators. That’s pretty much the scenario, whether we like it or not.
