Another case of double standards

It's fine that Department of Special Investigation chief Tarit Pengdith is petitioning the Foreign Ministry to consider nullifying the passport of Phra Wirapol, aka Luang Pu Nenkham, which could lead to the monk being deported from France to face charges

But, Prime Minister Yingluck, when Foreign Minister Surapong Tovichakchaikul took office, one of his first priorities was to restore Thaksin’s passport, and when a hue and cry was raised about this, he said a passport was no more than an identity card, and that even convicts were allowed identity cards. So, ma’am, why is Luang Pu Nenkham risking revocation of his passport as a means to force him to return to face charges, when your brother, sentenced to two years’ imprisonment for corruption, had his restored, enabling him to flit from place to place at will?
Under the rule of law, a convicted fugitive should be treated in the same way that suspect Luang Pu Nenkham is – that is, both should have their passports revoked and be forced to face charges and possibly jail, as the case may be.
As the red shirts are fond of crying, “No double standards!”
