I’d like to ask Somsak Pola whether he has ever studied history?
Does he know that German Nazis were defeated by what was then the Soviet Union – which lost 27 million people in that war – and not by the US, which only sent its troops to France in late 1944? Russian troops saved joint British-American troops in Ardennes, France, by launching an offensive on the Eastern Front, storming Berlin in May 1945, and helping defeat Japan’s million-strong Kwanton army in August 1945. The US also took part in defeating Japan and lost hundreds of thousands of brave soldiers in battle. But this fact can hardly excuse the US use of the atomic bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki to brutally kill hundreds of thousands of Japanese (not soldiers but civilian men, women and children). I can’t remember anyone on the US side being prosecuted for that crime against humanity.
How would you like it if the US had used its missiles on your country “to enforce democracy and protect human rights” after the Krue Se or Thak Bai massacres?
