Flush bad politicians out to sea

On Wednesday Deputy Prime Minister Plodprasop Sursawadi told us that floodwaters in the central plains and the East would be gone by next month, while the press carried telling photos of flooding in Prachin Buri.

On Thursday he informed us that the situation in the East was getting worse because of Typhoon Nari, while at the same time the water level in three main Bangkok canals was reaching critical level. Does the Water and Flood Management Commission he heads have any idea of what is going on? Why does this inept and incompetent politician, who distinguished himself by his dismal performance during the 2011 floods and who excels at insulting and ridiculing those who disagree with him, remain in charge of the commission? Is it because he is related to the Shinawatra clan?
