All the colours of the sun

WITH HOT sunny days and warm nights on their way as summer kicks into gear, Ikea at Mega Bangna has launched a new range of stylish outdoor furniture to brighten up the balcony, garden, courtyard and other outside areas. Mixing contemporary styles with kid-friendly features, many of the new furniture pieces come in bold summer colours including strawberry red, seaside blue, back-to-nature green, and sunshine yellow.

The new range includes sun loungers, dining tables and chairs, armchairs, cushions, gardening sets, hanging seats, barbecues, cutlery, plates, glassware and insect nets as well as lanterns and lighting chains for al-fresco soirees.

“Whether you want to entertain, or simply relax at home, our 2014 summer collection offers great looking and affordable furniture and accessories to suit every taste,” says store manager Lacia Sherlock.

“And with apartment living becoming more popular in the city, many of our new pieces will help transform balconies and outdoor areas into attractive spaces that are perfect for entertaining.”

Colourful folding chairs and tables match with new flower boxes and trellis for a garden cafe look. They also look great next to plant pots available in a variety of sizes and colours – from shiny, galvanised steel to creamy white and bright green.

The balcony gets its own chill out vibe with new low-level seating set – complete with thick cushions – and a cool hanging seat that swings gently.

“As ‘Living with Children’ is a major focus area for Ikea in 2014, our new collection also includes safe, durable, great looking furniture for infants and older kids,” Lacia adds.

The Mammut outdoor furniture range is a good example of this. Each piece has added child-safe, UV protection in its pigment to protect against colour fading and harsh outdoor conditions.

Made of lightweight, easy-to-clean plastic, the furniture includes stools, tables and chairs in a variety of kid-friendly hues.
