I feel it important to clarify this matter. First, I have an extensive library that includes a copy of the Koran, which I purchased in Bahrain, and associated publications. I do not resort to Wikipedia as the writer advises, preferring to learn from source rather than opinion.
There is an official Islamic policy – it is called the Koran. It is open to interpretation and therein lies the problem. There is also a structure of hierarchy. Jihadists have leaders, as do Muslims. Above all there is a very powerful source of finance – the region’s oil reserves. Therein lies the main controlling hierarchy. I would suggest the writer hasn’t read deeply enough into my letter, headlined “Excommunicate jihadists in the name of Muslims”, and understood its challenging, thought-provoking nature.
I have known and associated with many Muslims who interpret their holy book quite differently from the jihadists. It is an issue of increasing importance for the whole world.
