Less-for-more the secret to success

Ref: "Thai 'smart' farmers lead drive to boost production", yesterday.

The rice research and development project mentioned in the news is another of the less-for-more approach to rice farmers by reducing their costs of production and increasing yields per rai, including improving the quality of rice, which would well affect their productivity and competitiveness.
There are lots of rice experiments and research, carried out by farmers or national agencies, to cooperate with the project. They often result in the same ways as above. It is doubtful why the less-for-more approach has not been popular with rice farmers. Although we cannot determine the global market price of rice, the less for more approach could help lower the impact of falling prices in rice in the world market. It is regrettable that rice production is the country’s strength and opportunity, but now turns to be the weakness and threat that may damage the rice farmers’ well-being.
