Despite Robin Grant's downplaying of Thaksin's connection with the Carlyle Club, it gave him reasonable access to high-powered people in the US including George Bush after 2001. The reference given in Wikipedia in 2006 was removed in 2010 for some reason.
It is little wonder that Robin Grant tells us to “forget the ulterior motives”. Any club driven by the rich and powerful is unlikely to have a socialist outlook.
If a member brings the poor on to the streets in a “just cause”, you can be sure who the beneficiary will be, as in (by coincidence) 2010.
