Another round-the-world cyclist killed on Thai roads

Re: "Chilean cyclist killed in Korat was on big world tour", National, February 23.

It is unbelievable that another cyclist riding around the world has been killed in Thailand. This poor guy rode 140,000 kilometres before being run down not far from where a couple on the same quest were mowed down and killed two years ago. It isn’t like Juan Francisco Guillermo was hard to see – pictures of him cycling show him towing a trailer with a giant yellow sign. So how did the motorist kill him? Speeding? Tailgating? Drunk? Talking on his mobile phone? Couldn’t see and shouldn’t even have been on the road? When are people going to learn that dangerous driving doesn’t show how much skill you have. It shows how stupid you are.
