Ian Martin is certainly correct when he says politicians stir up hatred for their own ends, but according to the latest Pew Research Centre report, in at least six Muslim countries the vast majority believe that sharia should be the law of the land and that anyone who criticises Muhammad or who attempts to leave Islam should be put to death. Like Islam, Christianity was once also a disaster, but it had a Renaissance, a Reformation and an Enlightenment. Islam, unfortunately, has had none of these and hence its ideas are still stuck in the 7th century.
