Pain is pain

As October 4 is World Animal Day, I thought it appropriate that I quote the philosopher Jeremy Bentham who said this about animals: "The question is not, can they reason? Nor, can they talk? But, can they suffer?"
To put it another way, if another living being – human or non-human – can suffer as much as I can, then he/she has the same right not to suffer. It’s as simple as saying pain is pain.
