Siam City Cement winds up 2015 with the second edition of its "Insee Green Bike" project

SEVEN HUNDRED bikers joined the second year of the “Insee Green Bike” project, an environment-friendly activity organised by Siam City Cement that on this occasion took participants on a new route through Saraburi.
“The project is all about raising awareness of eco-friendly travel on two wheels. Last year, we started with 600 bikers riding from Suan Mingmongkol to Jet Khot Waterfall in Saraburi and visiting several eco-tourism destinations on the way,” said Chantana Sukumanont, adviser to Siam City Cement. Chantana who, along with the deputy mayors of Tabkwang town, Trairong Mongkol and Boonsong Daengprasert and Municipal Council member Wittaya Karaket, launched the second activity from Suan Mingmongkol in Saraburi’s Kaeng Khoi District.
“Cycling is popular both with those who pay attention to their health and eco-travellers. This year, we attracted 700 bikers and are delighted to introduce a new route from Suan Mingmongkol to Chulalongkorn University Reservoir. Like last year, the cyclists will be amazed by the spectacular scenery of Suan Mingmongkol, which is a model public park for environmental conservation. It was recognised for its energy conservation at both the Thailand and Asean Energy Awards 2015. It’s a great place to relax and an ideal stop on a trip. There are local shops, cafes, and some of the cleanest bathrooms in Saraburi,” Chantana said.
“The route is embraced by lush green trees and majestic mountains. The destination is a big reservoir under Chulalongkorn University’s land development project in Kaeng Khoi, Here, visitors can explore the architecture created by the university’s architecture students who participated in the ‘Insee Sangsan’ project and the White Pavilion, a contemporary pavilion made from innovative materials. We are confident that this second route will be a memorable experience for bikers who love nature.
“Finally, I would like to thank all the 700 bikers who joined us on this new route. I want to encourage more people to travel by bicycle. They can be closer to nature and improve their health at the same time,” Chantana concluded. After pedalling the 42 kilometres to the reservoir, the cyclists released 880 fish into the water to make merit on the occasion of His Majesty the King’s 88th birthday anniversary. They also signed a book of well-wishes and donated money to support the construction of a shelter for the homeless of Tabkwang.
Suan Mingmongkol was built to honour His Majesty the King on the occasion of his 84th birthday anniversary and its name was graciously bestowed by Her Royal Highness Maha Chakri Sirindhorn. It is located on Mitrapap Road near Tabkwang Municipal Office. The 20-rai park boasts a garden, the Chalerm Phra Kiat Building, the Chaipattana Foundation shop and shops run by locals.
