JABRA STEEL is a new Bluetooth headset that’s designed to be tough and durable in every working condition and ideal for the heavy-duty user.
The Danish firm says its Steel headset is good for architects, engineers, police officers, soldiers and explorers.
The Steel is designed and developed in accordance with IP54 Standard, meaning it’s resistant to dust, water and shock. The headset body is made from polycarbonate and covered with silicone rubber and ABS plastic to ensure durability. It can be comfortably worn for hours, with a ear hook securing the flexible and light in-ear headset.
Best of all, the Jabra Steel comes with a Noise Blackout system, which uses two microphones to cut noise in all conditions. This allows your conversation partner to hear you clearly even when you are working. The headset package also comes with two wind socks. You can slide a windsock over the end of the headset to significantly reduce the wind noise.
Those whose work keeps them outdoors will find it useful because the Steel’s buttons are designed to be pushed conveniently even when wearing gloves. The Steel comes with a minimum design featuring just three buttons: on/off, answer/end and voice.
The voice button is used to activate the iOS Siri app, Google Now or Windows Phone Cortana to use the voice command on the phone. You can also use it to activate the headset voice controls.
The voice commands on the headsets include “answer” for answering an incoming call, “ignore” for rejecting an incoming call and “call back” for redialling a missed call. If you do not remember the voice commands of the headset, simply mutter “What can I say” to hear the list.
The box also has three sets of ear gels and ear hooks in two sizes. The headset can be worn with or without the ear hook and on the left or right ear. Pairing the Jabra Steel to your phone is easy thanks to the NFC function. I tested it by linking to the Huawei GR5 and it was easy.
You can download Jabra Assist app to your smartphone to use with the headset. The app can tell you the remaining level of battery and will also help you to locate the headset if you have lost or misplaced it. You can even instruct the headset to play a “beep” signal so that you can find it.
During the test, I was able to hear clearly both my voice that that of my conversation partner while out riding my bicycle. Jabra Steel is distributed in Thailand by RTB Technology for Bt3,590. It is available at Jay Mart, iStudio, Power Buy, Power Mall and King Power.
