Salaya Doc comes to the city

Salaya Doc has pulled up stakes and moved from the far-flung suburbs into the heart of the city, with screenings in the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre's fifth-floor auditorium until Sunday.

Today, there are two more entries from the well-made KBS Busan TV series “Power of Asian Cinema”, “Face Taiwan” about the state of contemporary Taiwanese cinema, and “Return to Nostalgia”, which follows the search for a lost classic film of Malay cinema.
There’s also “Visible Silence”, a short doc on the Thai lesbian realm of “toms” and “dees”. It’s by American director Ruth Gumnit.
Tomorrow at 1, there’s a talk about where to get money to make documentaries and the announcement of awards in the Asean documentary competition. And then there’s “Homeland: Iraq Year Zero”, a 334-minute look at Iraq before and after the American invasion.
Salaya Doc winds down on Sunday with “No Lullaby”, on the insidious cycle of sexual abuse by a parent, “When We Talk About KGB”, about a Lithuanian former political prisoner’s search for answers and “Before the Last Curtain Falls”, about ageing German drag queens.
Entry is free. For the complete schedule, check www.facebook.com/SalayaDoc.
