Prayut needs to remove more non-performers

If (and only if) he’s been given the strong support he needs, including dealing with mafia bosses in uniform, three cheers for PM Prayut for removing Fisheries Department chief Wimol Jantrarorai for inadequately suppressing illegal fishing.

Such public and quick removal sends a strong, motivating signal that public servants must show results as promised, and that, as the sign on US President Harry Truman’s desk said, “The buck stops here.”
PM Prayut should use the same approach elsewhere regarding other key reforms, such as on the Interior minister, who heads the committee charged with road safety, but whose work resulted in a
higher Songkran death
toll this year than the year before.
Or on the police chief and Justice minister for failing to implement the rule of law, as shown by failing to bring the Red Bull heir to court for hitting and killing a cop on his motorbike four years ago.
Let’s have accountability in high places for a change.
