The contract signing between the 42-year-old former national striker and Thai FA president Somyot Poompanmuang took place at the association’s temporary office at Chan Issara Tower, with no financial details of the deal disclosed.
Somyot said Kiatisak’s main task was to oversee the national side’s 2018 World Cup qualifying campaign.
“Besides guiding the country to the 2018 World Cup finals, our goal is to develop Thai football.
“The deal itself is not as important as the mutual respect we have for each other. We all want to see Thai football move forward. Zico [Kiatisak’s nickname] told me that even if he was not bound by the contract he still would have carried on with his work,” said Somyot.
Despite being offered a short-term contract, Kiatisak promised to deliver the goods. “I’ll try to do my best. Even though task is difficult task, I am ready to take the team forward.
“I prefer not to speak about the details of the deal but it’s very satisfying for both parties. The length of the contract is not important for me because we have already mapped out a plan to develop the team,” said Kiatisak.
